The Foundation at Mission Regional Medical Center (MRMC) Board of Directors recently voted to donate $500,000 to the hospital for the new Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI) equipment that is currently being installed at MRMC. Earlier this year, the hospital Auxiliary Board donated $70,000 to Mission Regional Medical Center (MRMC) also to help fund the $1.4 million dollar MRI. The total $570,000 funds are designated for the hospital’s new MRI located in the imaging department of the hospital.
“We are blessed to have an active and dedicated Auxiliary and Foundation working to help offset the cost of this cutting edge imaging technology at Mission Regional Medical Center,” said Javier Iruegas, CEO, Mission Regional Medical Center. “The new MRI allows physicians to detect many conditions in earlier stages, greatly optimizing diagnoses, treatment, and patient outcomes.”

“The Foundation Board of Directors is proud to be part of this monumental project that will not only benefit Mission Regional Medical Center but also the communities we serve. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and sponsors, we were also able to make an $80,000 donation to Mission Regional Medical Center in September from the net proceeds raised during our 8th Annual Legacy Gala held earlier this year,” said Foundation Board President, Deborah Cordova.
The new Siemens Magnetom Aera 1.5 T provides the next level of care in imaging technology. It is 50% stronger for enhanced image quality and more precise diagnostics. It is also larger in bore-size for improved patient comfort and reducing claustrophobia issues. It includes a detachable table for patient comfort and improved safety and can provide access to patients weighing up to 550 pounds. It is quieter and faster.
This new MRI scanner at Mission Regional Medical Center’s radiology suite will expand access to diagnostic imaging that supports a complete range of clinical applications, including neurology, orthopedics, body imaging, angiography, cardiology, breast imaging, and oncology.
Mission Regional Medical Center’s Auxiliary exists to develop and maintain an efficient and humanistic volunteer staff which offers an extra dimension of care and service to patients, empathy for families, visitors and supportive services for the facility’s staff.
