Mission Regional Medical Center Opens New Pediatric Unit
Children that require hospitalization now have a dedicated Pediatric Unit to get the care they need at Mission Regional Medical Center.
The Grand Opening of the new Pediatric Unit at Mission Regional Medical Center was held on March 10, 2008 from 12:30 to 2 pm at the hospital’s North Tower, Third Floor. Doctors, hospital board members, community business leaders, as well as hospital staff attended the grand opening event.
Although the hospital has cared for children since it first opened its doors back in 1954, now it will have a dedicated hospital wing focused exclusively on children.
“Our commitment to pediatrics at Mission Regional Medical Center is stronger than ever. The hospital is working closely with the pediatric and family practice medical staff to ensure the Pediatric Unit will provide the highest level of care, “said Javier Iruegas, CEO, Mission Regional Medical Center.
The new child-friendly medical unit includes private rooms and family friendly amenities. An outdoor theme adorns the walls complete with butterflies and green meadows. The new unit is located on the North Tower, Third Floor near the Maternity Center.
“The opening of our Pediatric Unit is an important element to our continued growth as a regional medical center. The work that has gone into opening the wing will serve as a model for future progress in pediatrics,” said Desi Canals, MD, Chief of Staff.
“As a parent and a health care provider, the hallmarks of our pediatric care is to provide quality health care in a compassionate environment that is child friendly and family centered," said Raul Serna,RN, Director of the Pediatric Unit.
