PACS

Mission Regional Medical Center now utilizes Patient Archival Communications System (PACS) to include electronic access to MRI, CT, Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine exams. These images are now available electronically. PACS (Picture Archival Communication System) uses computers to display, archive, transmit and restore radiology images.

PACS provides greater convenience to both patients and physicians. With the introduction of PACS, patient images may be sent electronically to a workstation where a radiologist may view them, eliminating the need to transport film. Physicians and hospital employees who have permission to access patient information can more easily obtain patient images, which can often lead to quicker diagnosis and treatment.
