LAP-BAND System

The Gastric Banding operation can be performed laparoscopically, and is commonly referred to as a “lap band”.

The LAP-BAND® System involves a silicone gastric band placed around the top of the upper part of your stomach. This simple yet advanced gastric banding system helps you gradually lose and control your weight by reducing the amount of solid food that your stomach can hold at one time. It does not restrict liquid calories. It is not recommended for people who like sweet high calorie containing liquids or dissolvable foods.

This is the least invasive surgical procedure available, with the fewest risks and side effects and proven long-term weight-loss success. This is a reversible procedure.

Possible complications from this surgery include port malfunction, slippage, obstruction, erosion, infection, bleeding, DVT/PE, and high re-operation rate.
