(Mission, TX) Hundreds of people showed up at the Sharyland High School Gym Sunday January 23, to take advantage of the free health screenings at the 16th Annual Mission Community Health Fair.
Mission Regional Medical Center along with other health care providers provided cholesterol screenings, flu shots, bone density exams, blood pressure screenings, vision exams, spine checks, body mass index, and much more. The screenings have a value of approximately $700 and they are free to the public.
“As a non-profit community hospital, our mission is to improve the health of the community we serve, “ said Nick Espinosa, Director of Marketing, Mission Regional Medical Center. “This annual health fair is an opportunity for hundreds of people in the community to get a check-up on their health.”
“We had 10 drawing stations set up for the health fair. By 11 am, we had screened approximately 480 people. This is a complete cholesterol check, which includes both HDL (good cholesterol) and LDL (bad cholesterol),” said Carlos Gonzales, Laboratory Director.
Many people, like Meg Peterson, who attended the health fair expressed their appreciation .
“ I come every year to get my cholesterol checked and get a bone density exam, “ said Meg Peterson of Mission. “ It is such a wonderful gesture on the part of the hospital and the community.”
