Mission, TX – A Community Health & Wellness Fair with free health screenings, vaccines, wellness information, and door prizes will be held next Tuesday,  January 13 and Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. each day at the Mission Event Center, 200 N. Shary Rd., Mission, TX 78572.

Mission Regional Medical Center and other healthcare providers will provide a variety of free health screenings, including comprehensive blood work exams, blood pressure screenings, peripheral artery disease screenings / blood circulation tests (Quantaflo), flu vaccines, medication reviews / medication reconciliation, bone density screenings, strength tests, stroke risk assessments, information on preventing strokes and falls, and more. These screenings can help residents in the community to detect medical issues earlier — so that treatment can begin sooner, when it is more effective.

The event will also feature an opportunity to meet local physicians and ask them questions, during two “Talk with a Doc” seminars.  Dr. Arturo Torices Dardon, bariatric surgeon, will speak on “Weight Loss Options: Comparing Weight Loss Shots and Surgery”, on Jan. 13 at 9 a.m. at the Mission Event Center.

In addition, Dr. Kristan Diaz-Rios, family medicine physician with Monarch Obstetrics and Family Medicine in Mission, will speak on “Aging Well: How to Stay Strong, Sharp, and Independent”, on Jan. 14 at 9 a.m., also at the Mission Event Center.

The annual two-day health fair is sponsored by the City of Mission and Mission Regional Medical Center, bringing together healthcare providers, wellness experts, and local organizations to offer free health services and education to the entire community. The theme of the event is “Let’s take charge of our health together!

“Our community health fair is a great way for everyone in our community to access important health screenings that they might not be able to receive otherwise,” said Kathleen Avila, Regional Business Development Director for Prime Healthcare hospitals in the Rio Grande Valley. “For the past 25 years, Mission Regional Medical Center has been proud to provide free screenings for our community at this annual event.”

To make an appointment for bloodwork exams, please call the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce at 956-585-2727 or schedule online at https://shorturl.at/AMLPd.  Appointments are only needed for bloodwork; the other services do NOT require an appointment.

The health fair is free to the public. Sponsorship opportunities are available.  For more information, please call 956-585-2727 or visit www.MissionChamber.com.
