Becker’s Healthcare recognizes CEO of award-winning hospital in Mission
Mission, July, 2025– Kane Dawson of Mission Regional Medical Center has been named a “Community Hospital CEO to Know” by a national publication, Becker’s Hospital Review.
Mr. Dawson has served as CEO of Mission Regional Medical Center since 2017. Mr. Dawson executed a rapid turnaround of the 297-bed non-profit hospital and has been instrumental in growing and expanding services for patients in the Rio Grande Valley community.
“Community hospitals play a vital role in closing healthcare access gaps, and the CEOs who lead them are committed to providing high-quality, cost-effective care tailored to the needs of their local communities,” Becker’s Healthcare stated in publishing the list of chief executive officers to know.
“While many community hospitals focus on acute care, these forward-thinking CEOs are also expanding services to include primary care, specialty treatments, rehabilitation, public health programs and beyond,” the publication added.
Becker’s Hospital Review noted that Mr. Dawson is focused on helping Mission Regional Medical Center “to run as smoothly as possible” and “to keep up the effectiveness and performance” of hundreds of hospital employees and physicians.
“Under his leadership, the 297-bed hospital was recognized as one of Fortune/IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals in the nation,” the publication added.
In addition, under Mr. Dawson’s leadership, Mission Regional Medical Center has become the only hospital in the Rio Grande Valley to receive 10 straight “A” grades for patient safety from the Leapfrog Group, a national hospital ratings organization. These multiple awards are a testament to the consistent, excellent work of Mission Regional’s physicians, nurses and other healthcare workers.
