Twenty-four exceptional students were recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship each. Twelve (12) were awarded from Mission Regional Medical Center (MRMC) and an additional twelve (12) from the Mission Regional Health Professional Association representing the hospital medical staff. These scholarships are awarded annually to high school seniors interested in pursuing a career in the medical field.

The scholarships are available to students who are graduating seniors from the following area high schools: Mission, Veterans Memorial, Sharyland, La Joya, Juarez-Lincoln and Palmview. The Mission Regional Medical Center Administration and Medical Staff selected the scholarship recipients based on academic performance, financial need, extra-curricular activities, and a one-page essay in which they briefly described themselves and their plans for entering the health care field.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer these scholarship opportunities to students who demonstrate such commitment and dedication to academics,” said Javier Iruegas, C.E.O. “They will all be great assets to the medical field.”
