The Laboratory at Mission Regional Medical Center offers both inpatient and outpatient services including a comprehensive range of lab tests to support physician offices, hospitals, and other healthcare clinicians. We are equipped with the most modern equipment in the Rio Grande Valley.

Outpatient

Our outpatient lab is located at the patient registration area and is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., and on Saturday from 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. No appointment is required. Community Wellness Lab draws are offered daily. Results are available the following day after 2:00 p.m.

Inpatient

The department is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to complement all in-house medical needs. Tests are carried out with a physician’s order.

On average, our department performs about 700,000 individual tests and approximately 20,000 blood draws each year.

A complete blood bank transfusion service is also available with blood and blood products provided by United Blood Services.

Mission Regional Medical Center provides clinical laboratory inpatient services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Our laboratory has the most current technology including Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing. PCR is a DNA-based technology that promptly provides information for detecting bacterial and viral agents.
