The Mission Regional Medical Center (MRMC) Auxiliary made a donation of $73,000 to the hospital. Auxiliary Board President Dora Banda presented the check to Javier Iruegas, CEO of Mission Regional Medical Center. Funds donated are the proceeds from the hospital Gift Shop along with other fundraising activities.
Approximately 115 volunteers donate their time each year, amounting to 21,000 hours in volunteer service. Volunteers fill many roles at Mission Regional Medical Center; they escort guests, help behind the counter at the gift shop as well as deliver flowers and mail all throughout the hospital. Nancy Martinez stood out as exemplary, contributing 1,600 hours to the organization.
“I am thankful for all the volunteers that are committed to MRMC. I am continually reminded of the critical role volunteers play in the hospital’s mission to deliver high quality patient care,” said Lilliam Santana-Barrera, Director of Volunteer Services. “Our volunteers are an important addition to the MRMC team, and I am grateful for their willingness to give us their time and energy,” added Santana.
The check presentation was made during the annual Auxiliary Board Installation meeting at The Club at Cimarron. The Auxiliary Board Members for 2016-2017 are Dora Banda, President; Martha Harrison, Senior Vice President; Federico Salinas, Vice President of Membership, Gloria Ibarra, Treasurer; Rosa Nea Garza, Assistant Treasurer; Carmen Garza, Recording Secretary and Nancy Martinez, Parliamentarian.
