Mission Regional Medical Center (MRMC) was presented with a $60,000 donation from the hospital volunteer Auxiliary. The check presentation was made during the annual Auxiliary Board Installation meeting at The Club at Cimarron. This significant donation, which represents the proceeds from the Auxiliary’s 2012-2013 fundraising efforts, will be designated for various service lines.
Mission Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Board President Russ Winters presented the donation to Javier Iruegas, CEO. Winters also handed the gavel to James Burnett, as a symbolic gesture to the newly elected Auxiliary Board President. The 2013 -2014 MRMC Auxiliary Board of Directors are James Burnett, President; Jose E. Flores, Senior Vice President; Nancy Martinez, Vice President of Membership; Annemarie Becker, Treasurer; Rosa Nea Garza, Assistant Treasurer; Denny Brown, Recording Secretary; and Federico Salinas, Corresponding Secretary.
Approximately 100 volunteers donate their time each year. MRMC Auxiliary members have volunteered 32,000 hours of work in several hospital departments, including the Gift Shop. Amongst the outstanding volunteers stood Nancy Martinez, who contributed 1,300 hours to the organization.
Funds donated are the proceeds from the Mission Regional Medical Center Gift Shop. Throughout the year, the hospital Gift Shop holds activities such as a book fair, bake and jewelry sales, along with other successful sales events. “The volunteers at our facility have shown incredible commitment to our patients and the hospital through their volunteer hours. In addition to their regular volunteer hours, they are always willing to help out by volunteering extra hours when needed. Their hard work, dedication and donation of time is invaluable,” said Lilliam Santana-Barrera, Director of Volunteer Services.
